Level The Playing Field

John A. Schipper

John Schipper is a Michigan-area attorney with over 15 years of experience in employment and disability law, representing individuals that have not received fair treatment or the compensation they were promised. With previous experience working as an employment and labor defense attorney as well as in human resources management, he is well aware of how employers and administrators view the claims of his clients, giving him a unique edge over attorneys who lack this direct experience.

At Wayne State University Law School, where John graduated with honors, much of his coursework was concentrated in the very area of law he practices today. John’s practice focuses solely on employment and disability law, because employers, the government and insurers often forget that their employees and plan participants are real people in favor of attempting to preserve the bottom line. Employment and disability law are specialty areas that require focus, intense study, and dedicated practice, and John prefers to excel in these areas rather than being a jack of all trades. Because of this specialization, you are best served taking your employment and disability law claims to The Schipper Law Group.

Employment Law

Most employees want to work hard to get ahead in life, and be treated fairly in return. Unfortunately, not all employees receive fair treatment, which is when they should contact The Schipper Law Group. This general theme of fairness runs through all of employment law. When the terms and conditions of employment are somehow altered for any reason other than merit, there is usually an illegal motive behind the employment action.

Some employers do not even know that what they are doing is illegal, but it is their responsibility to know; that is the price of being in business. Other employers know what they are doing is illegal, but they would rather risk being caught in lieu of paying more money to employees or providing more favorable work conditions. There is recourse for employees who are treated unjustly, but the laws are complex, and justice can move slowly. Instead of taking on this challenge, many stay in miserable working conditions or resign in the hope of a better future, which rarely occurs. If you find yourself being treated unfairly in the employment relationship, contact The Schipper Law Group here or call us at (248) 729‑2414.

Disability Law

Disability law comes into play when insurance companies, benefit plans, and government programs deny benefits claims to employees when they are needed the most – when you are disabled, injured at work, or out of work at no fault of your own. When this occurs, you are stuck with no income while being sent confusing forms and demands from the insurer or government, and you may have no idea why your claim was denied. In the meantime, your bills are also piling up.

It is possible to get the benefits you deserve, oftentimes with payments retroactive to the date of your claim. You or your employers have paid premiums into these insurance funds, and there is money designated to pay your claims. The problem, however, is the process to claim your benefits is confusing, time-consuming, and requires strong advocacy and someone who knows these systems to maximize your benefits. Most people have neither the time nor experience to effectively gain access to their money. Thus, rightfully owed claims go unpaid time after time. Take your first step in getting the disability claims you deserve by contacting The Schipper Law Group or by calling us at (248) 729‑2414.
